FINANCIAL AID

DON'T LET MONEY HOLD YOU BACK!

As an accredited college, Mayfield can offer financial assistance to those who qualify. That means you might be able to take advantage of scholarships, grants, and low-interest government loans designed to help you afford your education. More than 95% of Mayfield College students currently receive financial aid. There are no priority dates for Federal Financial Aid at Mayfield College as we have continuous enrollments every month. We help students apply for state aid, which has a priority date of March 2nd each year.

Financial Aid Process

At Mayfield College, we like to keep the financial aid process simple, so there are only TWO steps involved:

STEP 1 - Speak with a Financial Aid Officer

Why start researching for loans and grants by yourself when we can step you through the process? Our Financial Aid Officers are up-to-date with the various types of loans, grants, and scholarships available to you. They will help you decide on the best route for you to take in applying for financial aid. If you have any questions, please call us at (760) 328-5554, or email FA@mayfieldcollege.edu.

STEP 2 - Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Students seeking financial assistance should first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA opens the door to such aid as the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, the Federal Work-Study Program, Federal Direct Loans (including Subsidized and Unsubsidized Student Loans), and Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students. This might sound complicated, but our Financial Aid Officers have been trained to make paying for college as simple and convenient as possible!

Federal Military, Veterans, and Family Members

Mayfield College offers many programs eligible for education benefits through the GI Bill® and Military Tuition Assistance programs. The college provides education benefits to both veterans, active duty, dependents, National Guard, and Reservists. Education benefits may vary based on the type of service and length of time in the military.

In order to determine eligibility, all students seeking to using veteran's or Tuition Assistant benefits will be scheduled to meet with a representative from the Financial Aid Office. The representative will assist students in completing all required forms needed to secure the education benefit. A review of transcript will also take place during this meeting. Students with previous post-secondary education must request transcripts and have them evaluated for possible transfer credit.

The Forever GI Bill - Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act was signed into law August 2017. The Forever GI Bill offers significant changes to veterans' education benefits, including eliminating the previous 15-year time limit for veterans who left active duty on or after January 1, 2013. The Forever GI Bill requires applicants to have 90 days of active duty after September 10, 2001. Find out more at https://benefits.va.gov/gibill/forevergibill.asp.

If you served on Active Duty, you might be eligible for education benefits offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. For example, the Post-9/11 GI Bill® provides financial support for educational and housing expenses to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.

If you are currently serving in the military, you may be eligible for funding offered through the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance program. Check your eligibility status and the amount for which you qualify with your Service prior to enrolling.

If you are the spouse or child of a service member who is serving on active duty Title 10 orders in the paygrades of E1-E5, O1-O2, or W1-W2, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the Department of Defense for education, training, and/or the occupational license and credentials necessary for a portable career. If you are the spouse or child of a service member, you may be eligible for transfer of the service member's Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits to you.

Although students at our Twentynine Palms campus are not eligible for Federal student financial assistance, Mayfield College accepts military tuition assistance programs and programs offered by Veteran Affairs. In addition, Mayfield College offers institutional loan options to help fund your Mayfield College education.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government website at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

The Signing Authority for the Department of Defense's Memorandum of Understanding is Julie Ha, CEO.
